Fuel System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

We understand the homes, roads, weather, and communities we serve. From troubleshooting a regulator to getting a propane delivery safely to a difficult rural property, our goal is simple: dependable local propane service backed by people who know Vancouver Island.

Cold-weather propane problems are often caused by the regulator, tank sizing, or fuel demand—not the propane itself. If an appliance becomes difficult to light, loses pressure, or stops working during a cold snap, our team can assess the system and identify the cause before a small issue becomes a service interruption.

Ice around the regulator or reduced gas pressure can be signs that the propane system is working beyond its intended capacity. Tank size, regulator condition, installation, and appliance load all affect how reliably a system performs in winter. Regulators should always be installed and serviced by a licensed gas fitter and positioned correctly for safe, dependable operation.

Living on Vancouver Island means propane systems have to handle more than just cold temperatures. Steep driveways, gravel roads, snow, ice, mud, and remote properties can all make winter deliveries challenging. Our custom 4WD propane tankers are built to reach more of the properties we serve across Vancouver Island when ordinary delivery trucks may struggle.

Pricing & Net 15 Payment Terms

Our per-liter fuel price reflects federal and provincial permitting fees, hazardous materials handling requirements, bulk storage and pipeline costs, and standard admin costs — the same categories the Canadian Propane Association identifies as factoring into any legitimate propane price on Vancouver Island. Every account also carries a flat Delivery Service Fee, which helps offset fuel, fleet maintenance, and staff training costs. BC Carbon Tax, GST, PST, and Motor Fuel Tax apply where applicable.

Common Questions About Propane Delivery on Vancouver Island

Straight answers to the questions we hear most about propane delivery on Vancouver Island — from minimum order sizes to what’s really behind that soot on your fireplace glass.

One 100# cylinder, or 4 empty forklift cylinders. Small-volume customers pay a higher rate than bulk customers and incur a $30 delivery charge.

The maximum hose length from our delivery truck to your tank or cylinder is 125 feet, measured in a straight line. Your driveway also needs to be plowed, cleared, and accessible — our drivers won’t take chances getting stuck or sliding off an icy or unplowed road.

No, our propane is not dirty. All liquid propane contains some impurities inherent in the refining process, and these typically settle to the bottom of the tank. The soot in your fireplace is caused by a rich fuel-to-air mixture within your gas fireplace — fireplaces are designed to create the lazy, warm, orange flame people enjoy, which produces some soot. The same home, on the same propane supply, running a gas cooktop will show a strong blue flame, because a cooktop’s air-fuel mixture is tuned for maximum heat and efficiency with complete combustion and no soot.

First, check the condition and position of your outside regulator. Is it old and due for replacement? When it’s cold, gas pressure inside the tank drops, and buildup inside an aging regulator can limit flow further. Is the regulator mounted horizontally, or below the shoulder of the tank? Incorrectly installed regulators can cause condensation inside the regulator and lines — regulators should be mounted vertically, on the adjacent wall or a post, so they can properly vent or drain, never horizontally under the tank lid. Is your regulator frozen over with a thick layer of ice? That typically means you’re pulling harder on the fuel supply than the tank can keep up with, causing the gas to boil at the regulator — often a sign your tank and/or regulator is undersized for the connected load.
