Propane Tank Rental

Low upfront cost, predictable annual fees, and complete maintenance coverage.

Why Rent Instead of Buy

Renting makes the most sense for households and businesses that want predictable propane service without a large equipment purchase. Here’s what’s included:

  • Zero upfront capital: No purchase price on the cylinder or tank itself — just delivery, set-up, and an annual rental fee.
  • Maintenance retained by Ready Propane: We remain responsible for the safety and condition of rented equipment, including required inspections.
  • Simple annual fees: One predictable cost per year, paid in advance, with no surprise rental rate spikes tied to promotional pricing.
  • Free remote monitoring available: Customers on our Auto-fill program, with cellular coverage at their location, can qualify for a remote tank monitor at no additional annual charge — meaning fewer surprises and fewer calls needed to track your own fuel level.

The Smart Alternative to Equipment Ownership

A propane tank rental on Vancouver Island removes the significant capital barrier of purchasing a bulk fuel vessel outright. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on equipment, property owners pay one predictable annual rental fee. Ready Propane retains complete ownership and assumes all long-term responsibility for pressure vessel compliance, safety inspections, pressure relief valve replacements, and mechanical maintenance.

For most residential households, commercial operations, and agricultural properties, renting is the most efficient choice. Storage vessels operate continuously outdoors in rain, salt air, and freezing winter conditions. Over time, valves, gauges, and relief assemblies require certified maintenance. With a Ready Propane rental agreement, equipment maintenance is completely off your to-do list—if a valve component needs repair, our licensed technicians handle it without unexpected repair bills landing in your mailbox.

Getting Your Site Ready for Tank Installation

Setting up a new propane tank is a straightforward process. To ensure your installation meets provincial safety codes (CSA B149.2) and goes smoothly on delivery day, here is a quick guide to what you’ll need ready and what our crew handles for you:

What we handle:

  • Tank Transport & Placement: Delivering your rental tank or cylinder to your property and setting it securely onto your prepared pad.
  • Shop Vacuum Purging: Ensuring all tanks undergo thorough vacuum purging at our Parksville shop or by the manufacturer prior to delivery. (Vacuum purging is never conducted in the field).
  • Initial Bulk Fuel Fill: Conducting the initial propane fill and integrating your location into our regular delivery route (standard 3–5 business day delivery timeframe).
  • Ongoing Tank Maintenance: Managing ongoing ASME tank safety inspections and maintaining the rental vessel for the lifetime of your service.

What you handle:

  • Base Preparation: Providing a solid, level concrete pad or compacted gravel base capable of supporting the full weight of the tank.
  • Clearance Compliance: Ensuring the installation location meets required safety clearances from property lines, building openings, ignition sources, and electrical equipment.
  • Site Access: Keeping a clear, unobstructed path from your driveway to the tank pad so our delivery truck and crew can position the vessel safely.
  • Gas-Fitting & Regulators: Hiring a licensed gas-fitter to run interior/exterior gas lines, install, replace, or service regulators, and connect your appliances. (Installing or servicing regulators is gas-fitting—Ready Propane does not perform gas-fitting services).

We own the maintenance risk, you own the convenience. When you rent, any required inspections, repairs, or equipment issues are on us — not your bill. You pay one flat annual fee and use the tank; we’re responsible for keeping it safe and up to code for the life of the rental.

No. We request that customers do not paint our tanks. This often causes issues at our paint shop when the tank is returned.

See our sizing and placement sheet on our website, or contact our office and we’ll walk you through the requirements for your specific property.

A minimum of 18 inches to meet code.

Yes! We provide tank rentals for RV setups in two common situations:

1) Building sites: Keeping you warm and powered while constructing your permanent home.
2) Year-round RV living: Full-time residents in 4-season resorts that permit year-round occupation.

Note on onboard tanks: Safety regulations prevent us from filling motorhomes or chassis-mounted fuel tanks directly on-site. If your RV has a built-in tank, give our office a call—we’ll gladly point you to the nearest local station licensed for drive-up vehicle fills.
